After an intellectually stimulating season opener on creativity, AI and fungi, we revisited an older conversation from Season 1 which was based on the open letter “White Colleague, Listen!”, where co-curator Amy Russell had invited one of the signatories, Mojisola Adebayo to speak further with our audience on the responsibility and “response-ability” desired from the white majority field of theatre and performance studies in Great Britain and in Europe.
On Thursday, Russell and co-curator Mwenya Kabwe held another conversation to assess if white colleagues have indeed listened. In this unrecorded and supportively facilitated conversation, practitioners and academics from around the world imagined how we might go beyond the ways we currently speak about race and class in classrooms, and explored the idea of spaciousness in multiple contexts.
Since this was an unrecorded conversation, we will not be publishing a long-form piece for it.
