Duration

1 Year
Divided into 3 Blocks:
Block 1 – 18 Weeks
Block 2 – 16 Weeks
Block 3 – 12 Weeks

Includes:
• 3 Public Productions
• 1 Exchange Program
• Final Student-Led Showcase – Aadyant

Weekly Structure

Days: Monday to Saturday
(Saturday is a half-day)
Time: 7:45 AM – 6:00 PM


Each day includes:
• Morning Ritual
• Body & Voice Conditioning
• Performance Technique Training
• Dramaturgy & Theatre Studies
• Student-led Creation Tasks
• Theatre Making Lab (TML) Work
Saturdays include performance sharings open to faculty, alumni and invited audiences.

Training Environment

Training at DSM is:

Primary Emphasis

DSM trains Actor–Creator–Entrepreneurs.

The focus is not only on acting, but on:
• Building a disciplined artistic practice
• Understanding the social function of theatre
• Developing independent creative thinking
• Creating original work
• Preparing for professional sustainability

Students graduate with the tools to perform, create and produce work.

Performance Strand

Focus: Building the Actor’s Instrument.

Training includes:
• Movement & Physical Theatre
• Voice & Speech
• Script Analysis
• Scene Study
• Improvisation & Devising
• Acting for Camera (Block 3)

Students develop presence, technical precision, emotional depth and adaptability across stage and screen

Dramaturgy Strand

Focus: Understanding How Stories Work.

Students are trained to:
• Analyse context (Mumbai, India & World theatre history)
• Study theme, structure, character and subtext
• Reflect critically on performance choices
• Research and observe the world around them
• Make informed artistic decisions

Dramaturgy runs quietly beneath performance and creation, ensuring depth and clarity in all work.

Creation Strand

Focus: Turning Training into Storytelling.

Students:
• Create weekly original performance work (TML)
• Work on two faculty/professionally directed productions
• Travel with a production during the Exchange Program
• Develop and present a final student-led showcase – Aadyant

They also receive training in:
• Design
• Producing
• Stage Management
• Entrepreneurial thinking

Industry Exposure

Students engage with:
• Guest lectures by industry professionals
• Professional external directors
• Exchange Program collaborations
• Acting for camera modules
• Internship (minimum 3 months post-Aadyant)

Internship completion is required for graduation.

Networking

Students become part of the DSM Alumni Network.

Support includes:
